IT’S TIME FOR NEW MUSIC…

And plenty of it! For now, we’re starting with two new songs off of our upcoming record. They’re called TAKE IT and S.N.A.F.U., the latter of which is incredibly annoying to type, so I’m going to avoid doing so from now on. Both songs are up on all the usual streamers and they also have their own music videos which we shot at JH’s office with his workmates.

You can cop the videos below. As for the songs themselves, they are both exactly 2 minutes long and that should tell you everything you need to know about our upcoming record. TAKE IT is a cute lil surf rockish song about being tired AF, you know how it is. I also mention the title of the record in the song, so let us know what you reckon it may be! Fun! It’s probably the first time I’ve used the word horny in a song, and we use it twice! Wonderful stuff.

S.N.A.F.U. (ugh so annoying, seriously, try typing it right now) is another 2 min banger that sees JH absolutely punishing his snare drum like it owes him money. You’ll probably notice the song starting mid-moan. If I remember correctly, it would’ve been a moan of genuine distress as I got food poisoning (or something) on one of the 2 days over which we recorded this record. Suffice to say, I had spent any time not in the studio in the bathroom. AND I got a migraine on one of the days. Rough stuff. But as they say, you’ve got to suffer for your art.

As I mentioned earlier, we recorded these music videos at JH’s office. The perks of having access to proper studios and equipment. Keeping with the efficient, indie nature of the recording of the actual songs, we shot both videos and did all our press shots in the one day. Big thanks to Tahi and Aravind for their help with all of it!

I’ve never worn coveralls before and truth be told they’re rather less comfy than I expected. I think perhaps it’s my body shape that makes it so. Short legs and what not. But I rate the vibe anyway.

Obviously we’ve got heaps of new music en route in the coming weeks. I’ll let you in on a little not-so-secret: they’re all brash, short bangers. The vast majority of these tracks started life as rough ideas back in our major label days but we jettisoned early on, often because of some bullshit like the label “not getting it” or whatever. So it’s incredibly fun for us now to just flesh these old ideas out and not be too precious about it. That ethos kind of permeates throughout now, which is very gratifying.

 

I hate this part, but I’m just going to mention it again because it reaaaally helps us: we are forever grateful for any support we receive from you and every little seemingly insignificant button you click, like you like, link you share, etc. etc. etc. all helps *massively* for us, especially as an independent band now. So first of all thank you. Second of all, please feel free to add the new tracks to your streaming playlists, chuck all our recent posts a like and share with your mates, or give our music videos a thumbs up and comment. All that good stuff is so appreciated.

We hope you are all doing alright. It’s a wild time out there right now evidently. I hope you can find time to engage with this upcoming election in a healthy way (I’m still working on that myself truth be told). I think it’s an incredibly important one as always, but moreso now. You’ll probably know by now that I’m a massive Greens supporter, but I encourage all of you to just reach out and speak to as many people as possible, and think about what matters to you, then look into what local member of yours speaks to that best.
